Honey Sesame Chili Potatoes

I love to eat Chinese and need to satiate my cravings every other day. My husband and daughter have a similar thing for Chinese food. So to give our taste buds a change from the regular fried rice and noodles I decided to venture into a new territory and came across this heavenly recipe. It doesn’t take much expertise just follow the recipe and everything turns out just fine. Enjoy as an appetizer or even a side dish with your favorite dal.
Honey Sesame Chili Potatoes
Preparation & Cooking time: 30 minuets
Serves: 4

Ingredients:
3 potatoes, peeled and cut lengthwise into finger shape (similar to French fries)
2 garlic cloves minced
1 tsp red chili powder
2 tsp tomato ketchup
Salt to taste
1½ tbsp oil

For sauce:
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tsp red chili sauce
2 tsp vinegar
2 garlic cloves minced
1½ tbsp honey
½ tbsp oil
1 tsp chopped spring onion greens for garnish

Method:

Combine potato fingers, oil, red chili powder, tomato sauce, garlic and salt and toss. Grease a baking tray and spread the potato fingers on the tray and bake at 375 degree F for 40 minutes. Turn the potatoes once midway.

(Alternatively: Deep fry the potato fingers to a golden brown shade.  Add a tbsp of corn flour instead of oil to the potatoes and then deep fry. Remove onto absorbent paper and keep aside.)

Heat a heavy bottomed vessel, add oil, and add the garlic and sauté on high flame for few seconds. Add the red chili sauce, tomato sauce and vinegar and combine. Add the baked potatoes and toss for a minute on medium-high flame. Add the honey and toss the contents till well combined. Turn off heat.

Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and garnish with spring onion greens or coriander leaves and combine. Serve immediately as a starter/appetizer or even as a side dish.
